Perry Miniatures War of the Roses Blue and Murrey

My latest batch of Perry plastic WotR figures with a few of their metal figures mixed in. I have gone for speed with painting these, just a base coat and wash, with a highlight on the flesh and metal. I have not bothered to paint any badges on them either so that they will be more versatile with any blue and Murrey retinues, just needing to change the flags/banners.
I am looking forward to picking up a couple of boxes of their new plastic mounted knights at Salute later this month and with all those spare heads the first two plastic box sets will be even more versatile.

More Zulu War to come in the next couple of posts.

    1. In the past I have painted armour over a black undercoat but for speed it was a white undercoat, games workshop boltgun metal, raw umber wash, boltgun metal highlight and if I am feeling really generous another highlight of games workshop chainmail.

  11. Fantastic post!

The miniatures are extremely well painted ad the buildings look incredible!

Is the terrain all scratch built?

Which rules will you use for your WOTR?

    Happy Gaming,

    Allan

  12. Thanks once again Chaps.

Allan, the terrain is made by myself, the buildings are 50/50, I tend to buy some buildings and then knock up a replica. In this picture one of the buildings is from Grand Manner, there is another commercial building in there but I can't think of the name of the company now, the rest are made by myself and the walls are from Empress Miniatures.

    1. Forgot to mention, which rules will I use for WotR. I have based my figures on single bases so I can use them for large skirmish games ie adapted Lord of the Rings are fun.

I also have movement trays for the figures so I can play the bigger type games, WAB, Days of Knights and I think there is a peter pig set of rules for this period that might be quite good.

The nice thing with the movement trays you can order the size you require from www.warbases.co.uk for the rules you want to use.

    1. Thanks Matt.
Blue = Vallejo dark blue 930
Murrey = Games Workshop scab red.
For painting the figures and washes that I use, look under LABELS 'Painting Figures'.
