ZULU WAR BRITISH LANCERS

As promised, some British Lancers for the Zulu War. Wonderful figures once again from Empress Miniatures. The Zulu huts are also by Empress and the Zulus themselves are Wargames Foundry apart from the casualty figures which are Old Glory.

Good news from Empress Miniatures, they informed me at a recent show that they will continue to expand on the Zulu War range, with Frontier Light Horse, Dragoons, Highland Infantry, Naval and more Personalities for the period.

I start the first day of my holidays today and I am not back to work until the 2nd of January, so hopefully will get plenty of hobby related time mixed in amongst family festive time.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and thanks for visiting my blog over the past year.

Pat.

  16. Beautiful paint-job on beautiful figures, Pat! They remind me I still need to order a unit's worth of those Empress 17th Lancers to turn into the 9th Lancers in Afghanistan. Thanks for reminding me -- and hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year as well!

  17. Thanks once again Chaps.
MG, I also thought about using the Lancers for the NWF but I believe there would be some conversion work rather than just a straight forward paint job. Look forward to seeing them, if you get the chance to do some.
    Merry Christmas,
    Pat.

    1. Actually, you can use them "straight out of the box", so to speak, as the 9th Lancers brought their full blue uniforms with them to Afghanistan. They also brought khaki tunics, and their own special double-breasted, quilted khaki jackets, for use in colder weather. To be honest, I'm still not sure whether to have mine painted with khaki tunics or blue ones!

    2. Thanks MG. I never realised they had brought their blue's with them out to the NWF. As nice as they would look with their quilted jackets, I think it would be beyond my means for conversion work. Would love to see them painted in their khaki uniforms though as it would give them a totally different look to the blue.
      Cheers,
      Pat.

  18. Great lancers Pat. That's one of the very best scenes in Zulu Dawn when the lancers are in action right at the start - very memorable! And you've really done these chaps justice. Thanks for all your tremendous blog posts this year - I've loved following your blog. Have a great holiday and Merry Christmas!
