I recently finished painting and basing the Ramshackle Barn from Perry Miniatures. This plastic building has loads of detail and can cover a large time period.
I have started working on yet another project which is turning out really well and I am quite excited about. When I have finished painting the first batch of figures, I will post pictures of them and the appropriate buildings. I am not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet but it is a period (theatre) and scale that I had never really considered before.
Cheers,
Pat.
Fantastic what you have done with those Pat. I've been thinking of getting some, but know I'm no longer need to think, but will get some!

Excellent work!
ReplyDeleteFor perspective, how big is the base you put it on?
Thanks very much chaps.
DeleteRob, the base for the barn is 12x8 inches.
Pat.
Thanks!
DeleteIs there any chance of a "how to make plastic buildings look like old weathered wood" painting tutorial?
Rob,
DeleteThe barn was painted dark brown, then heavy drybrush with dark grey, followed by a light brush of midstone.
The cartwheel and ladder was painted dark brown, drybrushed with a lighter brown, followed by a very light brush of midstone.
These were household paints from a builders merchants.
Cheers,
Pat.

ReplyDeleteAll the other things also look great, btw!

Lovely buildings Pat!
ReplyDeletePat, the barn looks great. I love all the additional details you added. I'm curious to see your new period! Always great to see your stuff online! Take care - Cory
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Great buildings!
ReplyDeleteThose are really very well done, Pat. Putting the buildings on those hand-made bases really brings them alive.
ReplyDeleteCurious about the new period. How is Guilford Courthouse going?
Best wishes
Giles
Thanks again chaps.
DeleteGiles, the new period or should I say theatre is not a big project time wise, so shouldn't eat into my Guilford Courthouse project too much. I already have the Courthouse and Hoskins farmhouse painted, so they will be coming up in a future post.
Cheers,
Pat.
The barn looks ACE!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic looking models. Placing the barn at an angle on the base makes it 'pop out' on the table, very nice.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Matt
