Back to the Dark Ages. The Normans.

On Friday I met up with a fellow wargamer for the first time. Dave G works at the same location as my wife and lives just a couple of miles down the road. I have always had to travel a fair way to game with friends, so gaming at Dave's made a refreshing change. Fortunately we both collect similar periods and on Friday Dave hosted a Saxon v Norman game using the excellent Hail Caesar rules. I was so inspired with the game, that I went home and dug out some of my old Dark Age collection for a photo shoot.

The first batch of pictures show the interior of a building by Grand Manner, this has loads of little detail inside for painting. The building and figures I painted quite a few years ago and are Gripping Beast, Perry Miniatures and Wargames Foundry.  .

I sold most of my Normans including all my cavalry a few years ago but I still have these and I may be tempted to build it back up again.

Last but not least, I will give you a little taster of a future post of my  Age of Arthur collection.

I used to know the guy who owned griping beast, before he sold it, and he gave me the original green stuff fig of the Norman in the first picture.

Michael, that is going back a few years, I am trying to think of the name of the company that he started after GB, was it Vendall Miniatures?
