I have finally finished the German vehicles and crew for part 8 of 'Setting the Scene' which has taken me about 6 x weeks on and off. At least now I can get on with what I enjoy most and that is painting the infantry, which will be posted in three batches, Panzergrenadiers, Volks-Grenadiers and US Infantry.
I have used a couple of halftracks from my non - winter collection by manning them with a few winter crew, whilst not perfect, it is a quick way of making the numbers up.

I had a bit of fun trying to recreate an iconic picture from the Ardennes with a little vignette of 'it's not Joachim Peiper'

Fantastic! Love the vignette - you have really captured the essence of the picture. It was immediately recognisable and really helps evoke the Ardennes '44 atmosphere. Is it intended to be a JoP? Also, if this is 'a few' pics, heaven help us when you post lots! Seriously though, this is as good as it gets and is so inspiring - thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter. I may use the schwimmwagen as a JOP just to have it on the table but if I need to draw it from the support list for gaming purposes then it will be used when gaming.
DeleteExcellent work Pat,the effect of the snow residue on the vehicle is so effective they really look like the metal of the vehicles are icy cold. The wreaks are a great idea and look excellent, adding a sense of realism with the weathering effect but I would not like to be on opposing sides of that King Tiger. cheers John and thanks for sharing great images.

All this, on top of the snow-shield everywhere,
trees, buildings, fences, usually the whole landscape is a stunning work
such as mud, which is revealed under the snow when the tanks moving
even if I look at the Nordic eyes, Yes, still. the effect is genuine
perhaps a bit "wet" as europpan winter is.
